Title

Design and Performance of a Solar Air Heater Using Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to design and computational fluid dynamics analysis of a solar air heater. In this system, the air is to be hot and is essential that it must absorb solar energy. The material used for the absorber material should have high absorbing power. The parameters which affect the thermal performance of a solar air heater are ambient temperature, wind speed, inside temperature and solar insulation. Solar air heaters are used in various streams such as space heating, cooling of buildings, drying and curing of agricultural products and in industrial applications. It is desired to find out the heat output and efficiency of the solar air heater, under different air flow velocity rates ranging from (4-8 m/s) and for different temperature inputs ranging from (25°C -50°C).By using Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis, the design of a solar air heater will be done in SOLID WORKS software, and the simulation will be done in ANSYS R15.0. Finally, compare theoretical calculations with the experimental calculations
