Literature is said to be the mirror of society. It often gives voice to the feelings of neglected and oppressed people. Here in this article socio-analytical study is presented which studies the condition of women in contemporary afghan society. We will study very deeply the condition of women in that society through glasses of Khaled Hussaini’s novel A thousand Splendis sun. Khaled Hussaini is a American writer with Afghan roots. His novels mainly deal with the life and society of Afghanistan, his native land. In this novel A Thousand Splendid sun author has tried to raise an issue of womanhood or gender bias in afghan Islamic society represented by two female characters Mariam and Laila.
