Title

Influence of Excellence as Organisational Culture on Employees’ Performance: Evidence from IT companies in Trivandrum.

Abstract

A company’s culture of excellence establishes and maintains the top notch business philosophy, values, beliefs, and related behaviors among employees. This research question addresses the influence of Excellence, a factor of organizational culture, on employee performance in information technology industry in India. The place of study, Technopark, consists of four phases of IT infrastructure developed by government of Kerala with a broad objective of technological innovation and economic growth of the nation. Technopark is the technology park , and is the largest information technology (IT) park in Asia in terms of developed area. As of 2018 Technopark has 10 million sq ft (930 thousand m2) of built-up area , in three phases of development 165 acres of land, and is home to over 400 companies, employing more than 56,000 professionals, and it is still expanding, adding 423 acres (171 ha) as Technocity—an integrated IT township near Pallippuram. This research undertakes the application of Denison’s model for exploring the excellence in organisational culture and Spector JSS survey to examine employees' job satisfaction. A self administered questionnaire-interview based research employed the convenience and purposive sampling techniques to select a sample of 300 employees out of which 280 responded to and returned the research questionnaire. Study of ‘Excellence’ on employee performance demand more deep research because contemporary successful technology companies like eBay, Google, Amazon inculcate ‘Excellence’ as a major factor in their organizational culture . (Meyer, www.panmore.com, 2018) . This study affirmed that there exist negative influences of Excellence in the work place culture on employee performance and employee creativity.
