Title

EFFECT OF PEER TUTORING ON DEVELOPING TEACHING COMPETENCY OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS

Abstract

Abstract Peer tutoring is a teaching strategy wherein students are paired together to practice academic skills and master content. Peer tutoring creates more opportunities for students to practice specific skills , which leads to better retention. The student tutor gains a deeper understanding of a topic by teaching it to another student. Students involved in peer tutoring have shown more positive attitudes toward learning and develop self-confidence. The sample for the research was drawn from DIET, Madurai District Tamil Nadu. Purposive Sampling Technique used in this research. So the researcher select all the 21 Second year pre-service Teachers in DIET. Teaching competency tool was developed by the researcher. The results revealed peer tutoring strategy showed the remarkable development on teaching competency of Pre-service teachers.
