A simple spectrophotometric technique was employed for the simultaneous determination of Vanadium(IV) and Vanadium(V) (V(IV) & V(V)), using 2-Hydroxy-4-methoxy-astophenone Thiosemicarbozone (HMAPT). 2-HMAPT forms 1:1 complex with V(IV) and V(V) in aqueous dimethyl-formamide(DMF) medium at 366nm. The optimum concentration range (0.61-4.00 and 0.82-3.57 ppm), pH range (5.0-7.5 and 5.0-6.5), utilized in the present study. The molar absorptiveness obtained for the determination of V(IV) and V(V) are 12775 l mol-1 cm-1 and 11575 l mol-1 cm-1 respectively.
