In the present study, bioassays were carried out to determine lethal concentration of fenvalerate [(RS)-alpha-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (RS)-2-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-methylbutyrate] for the freshwater zebra fish. Fenvalerate at 2 µg/L did not show any mortality after 6 h of incubation. However, after 48 h of incubation, 25% mortality was registered. Mortality rate was increased as 85% after 96 h of incubation. In the present study, behavioural changes were also observed when the zebra fish was exposed to 40 µg/L or more. After 12 h of treatment mortality rate was 25% at 20 µg/L and increased as 75% at 40 µg/L concentration of fenvalerate. At 80 µg/L concentration, 100% mortality was observed after 24 h. After 48 h incubation, mortality rate was 55%, 72.5% at 20 µg/L and 60 µg/L, respectively. After 96 h, except 2 µg/L fenalerate concentration, all the other tested concentration caused 100% mortality.
