Researches on Emotional Intelligence (EI) were observed the relation between EI and residence of students and difference between EI of rural and urban students. Most of the studies were observed that the students from rural areas have high EI compared to urban. Few studies identified high EI for urban students. Present study is aimed at studying the relation between EI of rural and urban Post Graduate students of Acharya Nagarjuna University (n= 826). Mangal's Emotional inventory scale was utilized for obtaining the data on EI and its four areas- IAA, IEA, IAM and IEM. Relation between EI, gender and residence were also studied. Results indicate that the male students with rural background and female with urban possessed better EI.
