It is often assumed that inflation is positively correlated with income inequality. Albeit, many researches that have been done so far in India were based on combined results for rural and urban areas of India. This research paper investigates the hypothesis that rising rural inequality is the result of rural inflation and rising urban inequality is the result of urban inflation. The data is collected for the period 2000-2016. Moreover, various statistical tools are being used for testing stationarity in data. The result reveals that inflation and inequality are negatively related in India.
