Title

Effect of Naringenin on biochemical and morphological characteristics of Macrotyloma uniflourum

Authors

Abstract

Macrotyloma uniflorum is oldest pulse crop and consumed in India. It is mostly grown in dry land area and having great nutrition values and used as cattle feed. Horse gram is short day, succulent, ,annual climbing herb, which has trifoliate leaves, white colored flowers .Seeds are flattened with light red ,brown ,gery ,black, or mottled testa. It ta usually required pH up to 8.Macrotyloma uniflorum belongs to the family of Fabaceae. Seeds of Macrotyloma uniflorum are ovoid in shape. Large amount of carbohydrate, proteins, amino acids, flavonoids, fatty acids and minerals like iron, calcium and molybdenum .It is used traditionally used for asthmatic, hiccup, kidney stones, obesity, leucorrhoea. In case of Medicinal plants it is widely used as remedy for treating human diseases because they contain various bio active compounds which is further used for pharmacological studies.Naringenin is a type of flavonoid with colorless and bitter flavanone. It is one of the most predominate flavanone in grapefruit. It is also found in a variety of fruits and herbs. It is a naturally occurring in citrus. It has strong anti-inflammatory, hypolipidemic, immunodulatory, antitumor, antioxidant activities. It has been used to reduce the HCV (hepatitis C virus) secretion in infected cells. In this seeds are subjected to naringenin. The important finding of work are germination rate of seeds can be increased with the exposure of Naringenin .The shoot length can be increased by the exposure of naringenin on massur bean seedling germination. The shoot length of the plant can be increased .The root length can be increased by the exposure of naringenin on plant. The no. of lateral roots can be increased by the stress of naringenin on.The DPPH scavenging is done in control and exposure of naringenin on massur bean seeds germination was estimated. The accumulation of total flavonoid is enhanced on naringenin exposure. In control and naringenin exposure in massur bean seedling germination the total polyphenolics is increased. The total carbohydrate content, protein increases . It has been shown that the exposure of naringenin increases the germination rate, morphology and biochemical profile.
