Arthur Miller an American Playwright came to limelight with his plays written after the Second World War. Miller has been one of the most outspoken American Writers. His plays project his ideology against racism, Capitalism and Vietnam War. The Great Depression of the Thirties was a great upheaval in history when the people faced poverty and unemployment. The economic crisis affected the emotional and financial wellbeing of children and adolescent who grew in the midst of this Depression. Arthur Miller is one of them. He is a social dramatist as he criticizes Capitalism, business-Oriented society and distrust that turned heart of men as dry of emotional and ethical values. Arthur Miller’s first successful play All My Sons illustrate the theme that man should realize his ethical responsibility towards society. His plays expose the evil of Capitalism in which the pursuit of money results in disintegration of values. His play Death of a Salesman also highlights the theme of ‘Man as Victim of Society’. His plays expose the evil, hypocrisy and falsehood in the society.
