Title

Navigating Professional and Personal Lives: Work-Life Balance Women College Teachers in Belthangady Taluk.

Authors

Abstract

Work-life balance refers to the equilibrium between one's professional responsibilities and other aspects of their personal life. Equilibrium refers to the state in which the demands of personal life, professional life, and family life are balanced and equal. Work-life balance encompasses various flexible work arrangements that enable employees to engage in other personal activities and commitments. The term 'work life balance' emerged relatively recently, being first utilized in the late 1970s in the UK and in the 1980s in the US. Work-life balance refers to the equilibrium that working individuals strive to achieve between their work commitments and other elements of their lives. An asymmetry between an employee's work obligations and personal life results in job-related stress, which consequently has a negative impact on their job performance. The teaching profession is considered to be one of the most honourable occupations globally. The impact of instructors on the growth of their students is greatly influenced by the level of job satisfaction experienced by the teachers. The job satisfaction of teachers is contingent upon their capacity to effectively balance their personal and professional lives. The purpose of this study is to examine the work-life balance of teachers in the specified area. Additionally, it seeks to identify the causes or factors contributing to work-life imbalance, if any, and provide practical recommendations to address this issue. The study revealed that the work-life of female college professors in Belthangady Taluk is effectively balanced.
