Title

Study and Performance of GMAW & GTAW on 5059 Aluminum Alloy

Abstract

The main objective of the present paper is to study and comparison on the methodology of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) from the study work and evaluation with its benefits, limitations and applications we perform a further work on 5059 aluminium alloy in which magnesium is one of the major alloying element present in aluminium which is heat treated from various hardening processes from which we adopt H321 hardening. H321 hardening has a strain hardness of 5059, which is measuring at temperature of 20°C(68°F). It has an ultimate tensile strength of 54ksi (370MPa), Which having yield strength of 39ksi (270MPa) and elongation of material is upto 10%.Therefore we perform this comparison is based on deposition rate, welding positions and the costing of the process which is carried out on the aluminium alloy.
