Title

Effect of Glass Fibres on Strength of High Strength Self Compacting Concrete

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of glass fibres on fresh and Hardened properties of High Strength Self Compacting Concrete using mineral admixtures Fly ash and Micro silica. Firstly six SCC mixes were designed by rational method of mix design and investigated for obtaining optimum dosage of fly ash and micro silica satisfying workability and compressive strength requirements. A Mix, M100 with addition of fly ash of 25% and Micro silica as 15% is finalized based on flow behavior and Compressive strength results. M100 mix is further investigated for its fresh and hardened properties with inclusion of glass fibres at 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%and 0.4%. Fresh properties such as slump flow, V funnel and L-box were performed; Hardened concrete tests were limited to compressive strength, Split tensile strength and Flexural strength. The results revealed that workability decreases by inclusion of fibres. The strength values showed a improvement upto 0.3%addition of glass fibres
