The world has come a long way in the advancements of technologies. Inventions in computer technology and increasing volume of internet friendly and mobile friendly apps have revolutionized the way we think and do our daily activities. Every spectrum of life has now been touched and influenced by the developments of technology and construction industry hasn’t been a loner in this case. New technologies and advanced machineries have helped construction industry to think the unthinkable and construct the unfathomable. Many of the modern marvels like the Burj-Al Arab, Milay Viaduct, Bird’s nest stadium in Beijing, China, Palm Islands etc. have shown are the examples of the heights to which construction industry have reached. India hasn’t been aloof of these technological advancements. With the advent of internet and faster communication, many of the new technological and managerial phenomena have made their marks in the Indian construction industry, especially in the infrastructure division. This has led us to think and construct huge projects which are humungous in many respects. Some of the notable projects are the Bandra-Worli sea link, DFCCIL, Mumbai international airport, Delhi metro & Hyderabad metro etc. We shall look into some of facets of construction project management and technological advancements which have occurred over the past 10-20 years, which has revolutionized the construction industry as a whole.
