Title

360 Degree Feedback Method and Its Role in Organizational Effectiveness

Abstract

Performance evaluation is imperative for effective human resource management, but there are evidences to suggest that many methods of appraisal being followed are not very effective. A method of performance evaluation that is being used globally in the corporate sector is the 360-degree feedback methodology because of its ability to provide an in depth feedback to the employees has brought noticeable improvement in the perception of employees in relation to the fairness and effectiveness of appraisals. This multi source feedback method provide ratings not only by employee’s superiors but also by his peers, subordinates, clients or outsiders such as customers, suppliers, vendors or other interested stakeholder with whom he interacts in the course of his job performance thus providing a complete view of employee’s job performance. This paper emphasizes on the importance of 360-degree feedback method over the traditional methods of performance evaluation and the effect this method has on the employees in the organization whilst presenting a list of companies following the 360-degree feedback methodology. The paper further discusses the detailed framework required for the successful implementation of this technique
