A researcher named Schofield Clark explains Parental mediation theory as, "parents utilize different interpersonal communication strategies in their attempts to mediate and mitigate the negative effects of the media in their children’s lives". Parental mediation is categorized into three types i) active mediation ii) restrictive mediation and iii) co viewing. In general, it is believed that parental television mediation helps children gain a sound relationship with their parents, get informed and educated about various things, establish healthy emotions, think critically and have a good rapport with others. The strength of these parental mediation strategies should be identified to know its effectiveness in parent child relationship.
