Title

SYNTHESIS , STRUCTURAL ELUCIDATION AND ANTIMICROBIAL & ANTIFUNGAL EVALUATION OF NEW BIS OXAZOLES,BIS THIAZOLES & BIS IMIDAZOLES OF 4,4'-DIAMINO BIBENZYL FROM WATER SOLUBLE AMIDES

Abstract

The present work involves the synthesis of high molecular weight bis azoles :bis oxazoles,bis thiazoles,bis imidazoles using α- haloketones and water soluble amides.In the present work 2,2'-((ethane-1,2- diylbis(4,1- phenylene))bis(azanediyl))diacetyl chloride (II) was synthesized from 4,4'-diamino bibenzyl (I) by refluxing with chloro acetyl chloride in ethanol.This diacetyl chloride on refluxing with water soluble amides like urea, thiourea,guanidine in alcohol on a steam bath formed N4,N4'-(ethane-1,2-diylbis(1,4- phenylene))bis (oxazole-2,4-diamine),(III),N4,N4'-(ethane-1,2-diylbis(1,4-phenylene))bis(thiazole-2,4-diamine)(IV),N4,N4'- (ethane-1,2 diylbis(1,4-phenylene))bis(imidazole-2,4-diamine)(V)respectively.These were evaluated for their antibacterial and activities using agar well diffusion method.
