This review paper presents the information about the importance of Fibre reinforced polymer bars that may be of great importance considering future perspective. Light weight, corrosion resistance, high tensile strength are the properties of fibre reinforced bars which makes it a better alternative of steel. Its better results in bonding with concrete and ease of manufacturing using pultrusion technique make it very popular. From long time steel have been used as the only material of reinforcement in concrete structures. Steel have the property to get soaked up to three times to its original diameter and corrode, when subjected to water within concrete, leading to development of cracks in concrete under harsh environment. Thus, fibre reinforced polymer bars can be one such alternative to strengthen the structure.
