Impact of Employee Performance Appraisal System on Individual Performance: A Study of Public and Private Sector Banks in Rajasthan Dr.

Abstract

Banking sector is growing faster day by day in India. With an expansion in the number of branches in banks and the new functions assigned to them, banks are started to feel a pressure in their organizational abilities i.e. the process of recruitment, selection, placement, training, promotion and appraisal, in order to assure the right number of staff with the capacities are available at the right time and at right places. Appraisal is the key factor of organizational ability which is the main focus of the study. In simple words, we can say that performance appraisal is an analysis of employee’s successes and failures, their personal strengths and weakness and suitability for promotion or training. This paper is providing a review on the various performance appraisal techniques practiced in our economy and the advantages and limitations of the study. This paper also highlights the literature review on effectiveness of performance appraisal systems in various public and private sector banks.
