Agrarian transition may be referred to a larger societal transformation – agriculture being the central occupation and the important source of income to one cased increasingly on industrial production and services, while urbanisation and livelihood changes proceed apace. Nowadays, this broader transformation is closely dependent on a country’s degree of integration in the world market. In the scenario the number of people working in agriculture is significantly decreasing due to the process of globalisation, urbanisation and industrialisation. Further, agrarian transition also included the increasing migration from rural communities to urban regions. With this backdrop, an attempt is made to study the agrarian transition in Chamarajanagara district of Karnataka State.
