Title

Voltage Sag Compensation by using the fuzzy logic controlled TCSC

Abstract

In the last few years, a large number of studies have been made on Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) with the purpose of facilitating their incorporation into the power system. Because of the many advantages of these devices, resulting from their quick and continuous regulation, there is a trend to increase their use in the future. TCSC is an important component of FACTS. With the firing control of the thyristors, it can change its apparent reactance smoothly and rapidly. The TCSC is able to directly schedule the real power flow through a typically selected line and allow the system to operate closer to the line limits. This paper presents the design and simulation of the fuzzy logic controlled TCSC and results are obtained that demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.
