Title

Study Analysis on FACT Device : Distributed Power-Flow Controller

Abstract

This paper presents a new component within the FACTS family, called distributed power-flow controller (DPFC). The DPFC is emerged from the unified power-flow controller (UPFC). The DPFC can be considered as a UPFC with an eliminated common dc link. In UPFC, active power exchange between series and shunt converter by using common DC link. Now in DPFC, the active power exchange between the shunt and series converters is in the transmission lines at the third-harmonic frequency. The DPFC uses the distributed FACTS (D-FACTS) concept, so there is no high-voltage isolation required between the phases. Therefore, the cost of the DPFC system is lower than the UPFC and the DPFC has the same control capability as the UPFC. The principal and Control of the DPFC is presented in this paper[1].
