Title

Flare Transmission Rate based Multipath Routing Protocol (FTRMRP) for Quality of Service in Mobile Ad hoc Networks

Abstract

Quality of Service is always an ever demanding thrust area in the area of mobile ad hoc networks. QoS protocols are proposed by several researchers over the past two decades. Yet, there is a wide scope of advancements is needed as the MANETs characteristics are more. In this paper flare transmission rate based multipath routing protocol is presented. Conventional beacon packets are replaced by flare packets that contain vital information such as position information, mobility of the wireless nodes and velocity. Link availability is considered first. After that delay is taken into account in order to perform the task of routing. Simulations are conducted using NS3, and the performance metrics such as throughput, packet delivery ratio, delay, overhead and packets drop are taken into account for analyzing the performance of the FTRMRP. FTRMRP has been compared with existing routing solutions and the results significantly prove that FTRMRP attains better throughput and packet delivery ratio. Also, FTRMRP reduces the packet delay, number of packets drop and overhead packets.
