India is moving towards digitization helping the people to save the time and money. Owing to which enormous amount of data is publically available for the growth and development purpose in different fields such as medical, e-commerce, government, business, finance etc. However, it has shortcoming that such raw data may sometimes reveal the private or sensitive information of an individual or organization. This will certainly discourage an individual to share their personal data. Privacy preserving data publishing offers the solution to limit this deficiency by providing the de-identification to the record of an individual. Thus, privacy preserving data publishing can be applied on the raw data before publishing which preserves the privacy or sensitive information in such a way that data utility is maintained. Therefore, this paper comprises of basic study of privacy preserving data publishing along with the anonymization approach. Besides, various anonymization operations are provided with the examples for ease of understanding. The comparative table comprising of various anonymization operations has been presented which will boost the researches to do the research in this area.
