Calligraphy: The Mode of Visual Communication

Abstract

The symbols or cryptograms were considered to be of great significances from the embryonic Stone Age man to the modern technology and with time these signs developed to be of great importance in fundamentals of visual communication as a pictography signs or symbols of communication. These cryptograms carried different meanings in different cultures that were seen in different era and civilization in history where human beings were present. At present visual communication is being functional in our daily lives and in all areas of activity. These symbols in the form of font’s acts as preliminary information for the individual and society only by selecting the suitable one among the masses of fonts that reach to common people. As a matter of fact it is now an inseparable member of our social and individual lives. Although at present, catalogues with huge variety of stylist font and symbols being prepared. It becomes quite challenging to determine and choose which particular kind of font is more suitable with which message. The font used, should be able to easily communicate, what actually writer wants to communicate to the reader. As fonts carries the communication message directly to the reader, it being the supreme characteristic of text. This paper examines the choices of styling font is the essence of the communication in visual perception and visual communication which makes it effectively understood to individual.
