Title

ROLE OF NON-CONTRAST COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY IN EVALUATION OF KIDNEY, URETER, AND URINARY BLADDER

Abstract

Abstract: In modern era, CT scan has the more advantages of identifying stone passage, and to rule out other alternate pathologies. [1]Multislice Computerized Tomography (MSCT) is the only modality of choice for urinary tract evaluation as often the calculi can be missed on other modalities of investigations. The aim of the study is to evaluate urinary tract calculi by CT scan, identify number, size and location and to evaluate obstructive effect of stone. A prospective study was conducted based on convenience sampling at Department of Radio diagnosis and Imaging, among 40 patients who were all referred for NCCT KUB investigation. NCCT KUB helical protocol was used and the raw data was acquired with 5 mm slice thickness, 5 mm increments and reconstructed with standard filter. Chi-square test was performed to determine the affected gender age-group, mean and standard deviation of age group and stone width, most affected site and side and effect of stone in urinary tract. The result indicated that there was no statistically significant difference between age group, gender and stone. This proposed study concluded that there is no association of calculus related to age and gender.
