Title

A Survey Of Natural Dye Yielding Plants In Dharmapuri District, Tamil Nadu, India.

Abstract

Abstract : The objective of the study to find out the Natural dye yielding plants in Dharmapuri district, to be Identified and Documented. As a Field Survey was carried out during January 2017 to February 2018. Dye yielding plants information was collected Through semi-structured questioner, group discussion among the major ethnic communities of the Study area. A total of 50 dye yielding plants Species belonging to 27 families have been recorded. They are most frequently used dye yielding plants such as Tectona grandis, Punica granatum, Lawsonia inermis, Curcuma longa, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Acacia catechu, Butea monosperma, Adathoda vasica, Cassia auricalata, Heliotropium trigosm, Jatropa curcus, Michelia champaka. The most highly plant parts Bark and Flowers. The study reveals that these important dye-yielding plants need to be conserved for biodiversity as well as traditional ethnic knowledge.
