Abstract
The technologies are in place; to reach the nearest Earth-like planet would need us over 54,400 years; that’s close to the number of years we have spent on the face of the earth as homo-sapiens with full behavioral modernity. When Prof. Steven Hawkins said a couple of years ago that we need to seriously consider exploring Earth-like planets as our future habitat for we are running low on space and resources on earth, he must have calculated the exponential growth that we, as humans, have registered over last couple of centuries. What I look here is building a specific scenario to first, understand why we must move out of Earth and, second, why we should avoid it.
