“SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERISATION AND ANTIMICROBIAL STUDIES OF VANADIUM(IV) AND NICKEL(II) COMPLEXES WITH N-(4-NITROBENZYLIDENE) 1-NAPHTHYLAMINE.”
Abstract
The Schiff base ligand (4-nitrobenzylidiene)-1-naphthylamine was prepared by the condensation between 4-nitrobenzaldehyde and 1-naphthylamine.The Ni and V complexes of the corresponding ligand were prepared and was characterized by different methods like CHN analysis, IR and UV spectra. The biological activity of the complexes were studied by conducting antibacterial and antifungal studies.The V and Ni complexes shows antibacterial and antifungal activities at different concentrations. From CHN analysis and IR spectral data the structure of Ni complex is found to be tetrahedral and that of Vanadium complex is triagonal bipyramidal structure.
