The understanding of borders in International Relations has been through the perspective of state security. The immediate effect of which has been the establishment of military and fences in the region. Maintenance of such arms and armaments in borders and borderlands has led the region to be an arena of male dominance. As a result it has sidelined various other issues that prevail in the region. Security debates in International Relations, on the other hand has undergone a paradigm shift. The shift has thus allowed for other perspective to entail in the domain of borders, security and International Relations. It is with such understanding that the paper tries to bring in the dimension of gender in understanding border as a region. The paper argues for the incorporation of the daily experiences of the women living in the region. It is in this regard that the paper argues for bringing in the narrations of women living in the border region. Such exercise would enable the forum of security and International Relations to have a ground level vision of the region. The incorporation of such experiences would thus broaden the dimension of framing borders and borderlands in International relations.
