Object recognition is a fundamental vision problem of identifying what is in the image. The major task in object recognition is to identify if any, of an object from the set of known objects appear in the given image or image sequence. It plays an important role in Pattern recognition. The algorithms we used are median filter for pre-processing, canny’s edge detection for detecting the border of the object, Hu’s moment invariants for the extraction of features, kernel principle component analysis(KPCA) for deduction of feature vector and finally support vector machine for classification purpose.
