Title

Backscattering Reduction of Flat Metallic Surface Using Stacked Sierpinski Carpet Fractal Arrays

Abstract

This paper presents the backscattering reduction of metallic surfaces using fractal arrays. Different iterated stages of the Sierpinski carpet fractal arrays are stacked to achieve a 10 dB backscattering reduction of approximately 80 percent of the X band, with a 32 dB reduction at 11.08 GHz. The effect of the width of the dielectric separating the fractal arrays is studied experimentally.
