Title

Assessment of phytoremediation potential of cadmium induced toxicity in Jatropha curcas L.

Abstract

To eliminate heavy metal contamination, plants are used as removal factor of pollutant from the environment. The main objective of present study to assess the response of Jatropha curcas to exposed various concentrations of cadmium by evaluated seed germination, tolerance index, morphological, biochemical and enzymatic activity. The obtained result reveled that the tested cadmium reduced the growth, morphological, biochemical with increasing concentration of treatment, in contrast the amino acid, proline and enzymatic activity was increased concentration of cadmium. The result concluded that Cd was accumulated in root than the shoot and leave of Jatropha curcas, it shows that the species have potential to eliminate heavy metal in the polluted environment.
