Title

An Analysis of Western Himalayan Traditional Health Practices with Reference to Indian Sub-Continent

Abstract

The value of medicinal herbs in traditional treatment, and in giving hints to new study fields and biodiversity protection, is now widely acknowledged. Nevertheless, knowledge on the medicinal benefits of herbs is scarce in several Himalayan core regions. With this in mind, the current research was started in the western Himalayan foothills, which are inhabited by tribals. The article's goal was to investigate the variety of plant supplies that local residents utilise to treat a variety of illnesses. To gather knowledge on the usage of different plants, interactive investigations, including field trips were scheduled. It was discovered that 35 species of plants are frequently utilised by the locals to treat a variety of illnesses. The bottom portion of the plants was utilised in the majority of instances. From such a region, potential therapeutic applications of Ranunculus hirtellus and Anemone rupicola have been described. Likewise, there is no documentation of the creation of "sik," a customary dish given as a healthy diet to expectant mothers. The impact of development programmes as well as shifting socioeconomic circumstances on ancient traditions is also examined.
