Title

Aurobindonean Approach to Seven Principles of Integral Education

Abstract

The great Indian sage educationist philosopher Sri Aurobindo Ghosh was proposed integral educational approach because he realised the inadequacies of our education system in India. Integral education is that education in which the human body, mind and intellect are combined together to form a magnificent machine. The study mainly adopted purposes as to explain the seven principles of integral education and their implementation in the contemporary teaching –learning situation. For this the researchers adopted documentary research method followed by qualitative approach. The study finds out that the principles of Integral education may immediately imply a difficulty in its implementation because of the apparently demanding nature of its principles. However, in the current socio-economic context, we are left with no other alternative than to adopt and put to practice the principles of Integral education in our classrooms. The principles thus expounded, can serve as guiding lights under actual educational situations. Though there has been a common charge that many of the principles are too vague to be actually implemented in the classrooms, it has been a common experience to this researcher that such principles have been applied with significant success at SAICE and some other institutions functioning on such principles.
