Title

SYNTHESIS AND FUNCTIONING OF TRANSITION METALS

Abstract

A variety of biological investigations have shown the importance of macrocyclic ligands, polydentate ligands with donor atoms either integrated or connected to the cyclic backbone. With the use of the template approach, transition metal tetraaza macrocyclic complexes, such as those found in Ni(II), Cu(II), Fe(III), and Mn(II) were created in methanolic conditions. There are no hygroscopic components in these complexes, which are made up of crystalline solids. Analytical methods such as UV-Vis and IR Spectroscopy were used to identify these compounds. Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria (Escherichia coli and Vibrio cholerae) were used to test macrocyclic complexes for antibacterial activity (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus). Except for the mild antibacterial activity of macrocyclic complex (6), none of the produced complexes demonstrated much antibacterial activity in the current investigation.

Key Words
