Indian writing of English literature is one of the main eras during which English writing became open and complex both. This period saw the rise of women writers who came with the new themes and techniques which proved to be the bone like for the development of such genres like novel. Women writers tried to portray the miseries of Indian women in typical male dominated rigid and restricted Indian arena. Feminism, gender inequality, patriarchy, matriarchy and many other themes and issues were dealt with and literature found its track to modern, post-modern, colonial and post-colonial perspectives. Myth, legend, allegory were mixed with fiction to give it new directions and new theories were applied to literature by fresh writers.
