Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) was a renowned Indian philosopher, spiritual leader, and social reformer who significantly shaped modern India's educational landscape. His educational philosophy is deeply rooted in India's spiritual and cultural values and emphasizes an individual's holistic development. Vivekananda believed that education should impart knowledge and provide students with the tools to discover their true selves and achieve their highest potential. He emphasized the need to cultivate a strong sense of morality and character, as well as critical thinking skills, creativity, and a spirit of service to others. Vivekananda advocated for an education system that is inclusive, accessible, and relevant to the needs of society. He believed that education should be practical and experiential, enabling students to apply what they learn in real-life situations. He also emphasized the importance of education in eradicating social evils such as poverty, caste discrimination, and gender inequality.
