Title

Exploring Occupational Stress among Women College Teachers: Evidence from Belthangady Taluk

Authors

Abstract

Stress is the way in which an individual reacts to a disruptive force in their surroundings, and the result of that reaction. Stress arises from the dynamic interplay between an individual and their surrounding environment. The teaching profession was previously regarded as one of the least stressful occupations globally. Teachers derived satisfaction from their career as they had the autonomy to execute their goals. They had sufficient time to adequately prepare themselves to manage the lessons. Currently, teachers face significant challenges in the education system, including the emergence of private schools and colleges, the diversion of teaching faculty to non-teaching roles, changes in teaching methods, the expectations of new-generation students, and their exposure to various information media. The current investigation aimed to examine the perception of female faculty members about occupational stress. This was accomplished by utilizing a well-established questionnaire and collecting data from many pre-university and degree colleges. The study's findings indicate that female college professors in Belthangady Taluk possess open-mindedness and view their work as a form of religion, resulting in a majority of them being free from work-related stress.
