Abstract:This article presents a comparative analysis of coil springs and air springs used in automobile suspension systems, focusing on their design, performance, durability, cost, and application. Coil springs, known for their simplicity and reliability, offer a consistent spring rate and are widely used in mass-market and performance vehicles. In contrast, air springs provide adjustable stiffness and superior ride comfort, especially under varying load conditions, making them ideal for luxury and commercial vehicles. The analysis highlights the advantages and limitations of each type, including their impact on handling, maintenance requirements, and overall cost over time. The findings suggest that the choice between coil springs and air springs depends on specific vehicle requirements, with coil springs being more suitable for cost-sensitive and performance-driven applications, while air springs excel in scenarios requiring adaptability and enhanced comfort.
