The significant growth of internet traffic and high bandwidth demanding applications have been propelling the data rate per wavelength to approach the speed limit of electronics. In order to increase bandwidth and to make optimum utilization of resources, all optical techniques in the area of transmission and processing are required. All optical processing at high speeds needs ultra-short pulses to accommodate more data rate per channel. Dispersion Managed(DM) solitons are favourable candidates for ultra-short pulses. DM soliton pulses are robust to Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) and are periodic in nature. Therefore, DM solitons are seen as a potential candidates for high bit rate data transmission. This review represents the effect of using various data formats such as Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ), RZ rectangular, RZ raised cosine, RZ super Gaussian on DM soliton transmission system.
