COMPARISON OF ANTHELMINTIC ACTIVITY OF SPICES

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the anthelmintic activity of hot water extract of selected spices using adult earthworm Pheritima posthuma. The time of paralysis and time of death were studied and the activity was compared with Albendazole as reference standard. Although all selected spices showed anthelmintic activity against Pheritima posthuma, but the hot water extracts of Brassica was found to most active by decreased paralyzing time and death time. The results thus support the use of spices as anthelmintic agents.
