Title

Efficient Image Processing Technique for Lane Detection During Night

Abstract

: A progressive development in technologies has witnessed the automation of automobiles which has been a tremendous solution for traffic delays and accidents. This advanced technology is finding its relevant place in today’s international market. Lane detection, lane marker tracking, advanced image processing, GPS tracking are few research areas in this domain. This paper concentrates on Lane detection and lane marking during night time. Lane detection at night is often challenging and difficult to execute. Here we develops an algorithm which includes a number of filtering techniques and image processing transforms which does the task. Firstly, ROI (Region of interest) on a captured image is calculated. Further processing is done with the help of few image filters to reduce noise in the image. Histogram equalization followed by image binarization forms a very basic concept of this algorithm. Proper edge detection is carried out to mark lanes of the road and finally Hough transform is applied for lane mapping and marking.
