Title

Study on Comparative Effect of Computer Assisted Instruction and Convectional Methods of Teaching on the Students’ Achievement in Geography at Secondary level

Abstract

The present study attempts to establishes the effectiveness of computer assisted instruction by comparing the conventional method of teaching the of secondary level. For these purpose 100 sample have been selected through simple random sampling of north 24 parganas district of west Bengal. True Experimental research method is used for data collection. It involved two groups of students, experimental group and control group. The design comprised of three stages. The first stage of the study involved testing of students’ achievement adjusted on their experience, the second stage involved experimental treatment and the third stage the students of both the groups are post tested on the achievement in Geography. Self developed tools used for the present investigation. Descriptive statistics and also inferential statistics are worked out for analysis the results. From the findings of the study it will be concluded that, the group of students teaching Geography using computer assisted instruction showed a significantly higher gain score on the achievement test than the group of students teaching through conventional method. Also concluded that there is differences between boys and girls of their achievement scores of those who have learned in the conventional method but there is no differences between boys and girls of their achievement scores of those who have learned in the computer assisted instruction.
