Abstract
Dividend policy constitutes major part of the financial management decisions of the firm. There are more researches required in the fertilizer sector as the economy of India is directly related to agriculture. Most of the population is involved in agriculture either directly or indirectly. The current study focuses on the percentage increase or decrease of few variables like profitability, earnings and dividend of top five companies based on market capitalization and their effect on the payout ratio to see a trend for the period from 2009 to 2018.
