Question of disinvestment and conversion of public sector enterprises into private sector enterprises take place because of financial distress wherein company is not in a position to pay off its liabilities and continuously incur losses due to internal and external factors leading to bankruptcy in some cases. In this paper, the researchers have attempted to analyze financial distress of six, loss incurring and manufacturing public sector enterprises of India, listed in BSE, by using secondary data collected from their Annual Reports for the study period from 2011-12 to 2016-17. Jeffrey S. Grover’s G-score model is used for prediction of financial distress and ANOVA single factor is used for testing of hypothesis. The results showed that only one of the CPSEs was financially distressed out of six public sector enterprises. Hence, it is mandatory for such companies to take precautionary steps for maintaining working capital & total assets & increasing net income and earnings before interest and tax.
