Title

SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM AND NEW EDUCATION POLICY-2020

Abstract

India has been living with a simple education system for decades. But because the population of the country is now looking in better condition, then along with this the matter of level education has also become important. But for quality education we will need huge amount of money, so that we can rethink about this area. India's education sector has been plagued with many problems. And these problems range from flawed policies to implementation difficulties and quality concerns. The contradictions of this region are now more clearly in front of us. We have made the right to education a fundamental right, but we are still completely backward in terms of quality of education, infrastructure of schools and investment in primary education. ASER, in its study, also found that more than 40% of the schools do not meet the test of basic facilities required in schools under the Right to Education Act. There is a severe shortage of teachers in more than half of these schools. In such a situation, six points need to be paid attention to level schooling in the country. First of all, standards have to be set. Some minimum standards should be set for quality education, which all schools will have to follow. The Right to Education Act does not speak of any such criterion nor does it ensure that schools should provide quality education. It only mentions quality, but what is the parameter of this quality is not defined. As such, ensuring quality is a complex matter, we must look at the structural facilities by adding the number of teachers per school and per student, the way teachers teach and other facilities in addition to the set standards.
