Emily Dickinson was a poet of seclusion and solitariness. She preferred to remain in her own world with her typical choices. She wrote almost 1800 poems, but most of them remained unpublished during her lifetime. She is not very much influenced by any Feminism movement or its concerns, but her poetry from that perspective, the consciousness of Feminism is seen obviously in her theme of death, life, nature, love and marriage. Under the background of 19th century, her special life experience has reflected her consciousness of feminism, which is a kind of ideology marked with classical feature of women and their understanding. This kind of ideology can be expressed by exploring one's inner heart and creating poems. Feminism is a kind of approach for Emily Dickinson to understand and experience life in order to realize the independence of her spirit and personality. Interest about Dickinson still remains in critical world for her choice of words, thematic movement of the poem and expression of innermost feelings in simple language. Emily Dickinson is one of the greatest American poets in English literature. Though Dickinson succumbed to a life of social marginality and seclusion, as a poet she opened a new frontier of feminine power and assertiveness through her transcendent and imaginative verse.
