Title

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISATION OF CuO NANOPARTICLES USING ANTHRANILIC ACID AS SURFACTANT

Abstract

The copper(II) oxide (CuO) nanoparticles have been synthesized using anthranilic acid as the surfactant. The synthesized metal oxides were characterized using several analytical techniques. The X-ray diffractogram reveals the crystal structure and phase formation of the metal oxides. Moreover, the IR spectrum of the sample indicates the presence of Cu-O bond confirming the formation of metal oxide. From the absorbance spectra, the optical bandgap for CuO was calculated to be 3.47 eV. The photoluminescence spectra for CuO nanoparticles show emission peak at 361 nm. Further SEM micrographs were recorded to study the morphology of the sample.
