Title

AN ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TEAM COHESIVENESS AND ETHNIC DIVERSITY IN ORGANIZATIONS

Abstract

This study is conducted to explore how companies manage workforce diversity and its consequences to an organizations existence as well as examines how organizations deal with challenges that come with employees from diverse cultural backgrounds. Advancement in technology and the advent of a global economy have brought people of the world closer together than ever before. Taking this into consideration businesses and other entities are looking at different ways to better recruit their workforce by attracting and retaining the best and most qualified of employees. Multinational companies throughout the world are facing strategic issues in including diversity and managing it efficiently. Diversity Management is a process intended to create and maintain a positive work environment where similarities and differences of individuals are valued. An industry such as IT needs talent from all over the world; diversity in workforce has been accepted. Diversity is a dimension that can be used to differentiate groups of people from one another and these dimensions can be visible or invisible. The existence of workplace diversity in an organization indicates that the workplace is heterogeneous in terms of gender, race and ethnicity, in which employees possess distinct elements and qualities, differing from one another (Robbins, 2003).
